At The Misfit Mission, we provide home-style overnight boarding for all dogs. We believe every dog deserves a place to feel safe, especially the ones who’ve spent their lives feeling like misfits, misunderstood, or without a true home. Our mission is to provide safe, loving, experienced care for all dogs, meeting each one with patience, compassion, and respect. We create calm, reliable routines and a trusted environment where every pup, shy, reactive, seniors, rescues, and everything in between, can relax, belong, and be cared for like family.

About Us

We’re located in Wilder, Vermont, just 5 minutes from Dartmouth College, making drop-off and pick-up easy for Upper Valley locals, Dartmouth families, and anyone traveling through the area. Your dog’s care is led by Sara, who has more than 15 years of hands-on experience owning, caring for, and rescuing dogs. She understands that every dog arrives with their own personality, history, and comfort level, and she prioritizes gentle handling, clear routines, and thoughtful supervision so dogs can settle in and relax.

The Misfit Mission offers small-scale, home-style dog boarding designed to feel like a true home-away-from-home. Whether your dog is outgoing or shy, young or senior, a seasoned traveler or a recent rescue, our goal is simple: a calm, loving environment where every dog feels safe, cared for, and included while you’re away.

Our services

Boarding at The Misfit Mission is intentionally small and home-centered. Dogs stay in a cozy house environment with a resident dog, with plenty of downtime, attention, and a predictable routine. Someone is monitoring the dogs almost 24/7 so they’re not left alone for long stretches.

Our home includes:

Fenced-in yard for safe outdoor time
Dog park within walking distance for extra enrichment (as appropriate for your dog)
Thoughtful supervision and calm structure throughout the day
A small, cozy setting suited to dogs who prefer a quieter alternative to large facilities
Use of available crates, beds, toys, and their choice of sleeping arrangement

$75 per holiday night

Senior and Medical Dog Boarding

$75 per night

We understand that caring for a senior or medical needs dog can be hard. The Misfit Mission has many years of experience care for her own senior dogs as well as malnourished and mistreated shelter dogs.
